Window on my province

“My country: the most beautiful and purest gem in the world”
While traveling through these landscapes bathed in light, a world passes before your eyes. It is a world where the trees appear like marble columns giving rhythm to the frescos of foliage and branches that are dancing to the sun; a world where the surrounding hills are covered with straight trunks, at times, and with fluted-trunks, at others, marking out their linear outgrowths. From one hill to the other, an enchanting drapery of vivid verdure flows, and the pine trees aligned along the edge of the marshes or the red green woodpeckers’ world constitute almost pure formations on the banks of the watercourse.
On the other side, stretches out a bed of sand and stone embroidered with poplar and plane trees.
A whole world of nature, dominated by these rich and diverse tonalities, invites one to a reverie.
In the midst of the greenery of the pines and trees, among the paths of our villages, bountiful rivers, and the small stream that call us to soar, my heart sings the beauty of my country Lebanon. My love to this much cherished generous land turns into elation and sublimation – into a prayer, almost. Behind the landscapes, perfectly portrayed on canvas, with their lush mountains and valleys, bathed in the Mediterranean light, my brush burns with all the colors that burst, spread, change and diffuse; in an attempt to reflect this breathtaking beauty while remaining in perfect harmony with my work as a whole.
More importantly is that this painting captivates (if not amazes) the eye, since the colors are in harmony: they remain delicate despite the virulent stains which express the liberation of the colors from the grip of nature.
Even more so, the colors also seem to dominate nature through the accuracy of some of the drawn lines. Here you have a well-balanced work, fully expressive of the multiple facets of my country’s beauty. I transmit it to those who are not acquainted with this gem; this small country that will forever remain the greatest and the most beautiful country in my view.
I pay tribute to the people of Lebanon, who endured all the ordeals and consequences of a war that was not their own. This heroic people knew how to keep its head high and how to safeguard its pride and nobility of soul despite all.
How I miss this ever so soft and so beautiful country!
“Window on my Province” is the window opened onto my entire country, which I sadly sing to, from its North to its South and from its East to its West, with a wounded heart.
May God eternally protect this Land.
