FROM THE CHRONICLES
Mohammed Uthman Sidiq
CEO of MEDISTAR CORPORATION

A rich life achievement
A pianist conductor and composer, the three of them seperatly usually carry an air of arrogance, superiority, fulfillment. This is not the case with Sidiq. With all his workload (composing, conducting, performing and teaching) he still belongs to the old school that is a rarity in itself nowadays, energetic hard working, immense amount of achievements and yet humble.
Elegy, Theme and five variations.— The main Theme is clearly Oriental/Arabic tune based on Shad Araban mode. The whole piece is written on a strict classical form / structure where the main Theme keeps evolving its rhythmical, technique, style and its speed.
The composer tries to reflect the beautiful nature of the Arabic Melodies by adapting them to be used within a western classical forms in order to bring the best out of both mediums.
This piece has been premiered first in Berlin Museum in 2001.
Such a presence in his magnificent recitals was enough to make the notes sing. One needs a docile soul, exceptional modesty together with unique skills and a lot of creativity.
Mohamed Uthman Sidiq, like any other big artist and composer is ahead of his time. First, a period of composing where the joy of doing so is rarely found elsewhere, left many sublime written works like the Elegy that communicates to the listener the feeling of a very sophisticated technique relating to the freedom acquired through very hard work with a lot of creative fantasy added to his masterpieces. To have such a rich and eloquent career, with its amalgamation, vigor and festive sounds, the pianist, composer and conductor wrote his works with his blood, roots and ties as if he were a nationalist in music like Chopin in his Mazurkas and Polonaises. Sidiq had long breathed the air of the homeland Iraq whose perpetual nostalgia drove him to the testimony that becomes the truth and the pretext to brilliance superbly ornamented by an intuitive and extraordinary eloquence and a new rhetoric he magnificently suggests with a natural skill that manifests art at its highest point.
